Her birth date was 29 March 1985 in Roswell New Mexico. Gerina Michel Mendoza is her name at birth. Gerina Stevenson was born to Mexican parents Rita Stevenson (mother) and Alan Stevenson (father). The mother of two is a Mexican by blood however she has an American citizenship. From a young age the desire for her to be engaged in sport was strong. Gerina played golf in her first game at age 15. Gerina completed her high school studies at Goddard High School. In high school, she had won at the New Mexico Golf State Tournament. In addition, she was a volleyball player who competed on the level of state. She began attending the University of Texas. Through the latter seasons of her professional career, she was the winner of every event that she participated in. In the course of her undergraduate studies she won the titles as Conference USA Female Athlete and Conference USA Individual Player of the Year.
