It's a reference to a nickname that was given to her father during World War II who also was involved in the Goldsboro B52, a crash. Tulloch's acting career started with her being given the moniker Bitsie. It continued to be so until 2017, in which Tulloch made the decision to change her name to Elizabeth. Just like I've always done, I am still Bitsie when speaking to anyone. When I was in my 20s I just began to act and it worked. As I entered my mid-30s I felt the need to revisit Elizabeth. It was a film I was making and it actually hadnt even thought of it. The director said "Hey we were able to see Elizabeth when we were filling out your legal documents." What do you think of the billing system? As I began to consider it, I called up my manager and agent. Both said yes. Yes, you've become older. and Bitsie is clearly a kind of cute name. This is cute. It was really just that. This isn't like introducing myself to you as Elizabeth right now. The billing will continue. Tulloch possesses both Scottish and Spanish family heritage. Tulloch said that her main language is Spanish but she doesn't consider herself competent in the language. She has a paternal grandmother of Renfrewshire, and a grandparent who hails from Kirkwall. Both of them are from Scotland. She told BBC News that the Tullochs came to the US about 1880, and the Kerrs in the year 1900. After she returned home to U.S., she went to Bedford New York for middle and secondary school. Tulloch holds a Harvard University degree in English and American Literature and Environmental Studies.
